blue_squareOur range of backward curved centrifugal fan units are efficient, robust, and quiet and driven by compact external rotor motors.

The units themselves are made from a centrally located motor fitted to either a plastic or metal centrifugal blade; there are a small number of long blades which are designed to push the air outwards which is the opposite purpose of a forward curved fan (FCI range). These units are often found in situations where a high pressure can be formed and the enclosure allows the air to be released in any direction.

The general sizes range from 133mm diameter up to 400mm. The motors are either 2 or 4 pole and normally are 230V however 110V and DC versions are also available (quantity dependant).

We stock just a solitary forward curved fan on its own the rest of our forward curved fans come as complete blowers and can be found in the “Blower units” section.
Forward curved fans work differently from backward curved fans as they can only be used effectively with the use of a scroll. There is a high kinetic energy in the air stream that can only be converted to useful static pressure by the use of a scroll. The best performance is always achieved when the optimum point is found; this varies depending on if the blade is narrow or wide. Along with scrolls an inlet ring should be used to further improve the effectiveness of the unit, without an inlet rind a reduction of 6% is generally expected in performance.
