Universal Electric J Frame Motors – Shaded Pole

3.25″ (83mm) diameter, 3W to 50W output, 2 & 4 pole

J Frame motors have either stamped metal end-shields or die cast aluminium end-shields and a rolled steel shell, usually painted grey. The end-shields and motor body are crimped together. Self aligning sleeve bearings are standard with ball bearings available. The method of construction is intended to reduce assembly time and cost. J Frame motors are usually mounted by 4 extended motor thru’ bolts, studs or tapped holes at lead end, shaft end or both ends. A welded foot, radial brackets and lugs are an option. Motors can be open ventilated or totally enclosed. An internal or external cooling fan with vent cover is available. Motors are usually single shaft, but double shaft extension possible. Single speed or multi-speed with tapped windings. Electrically reversible models. Also manufactured for OEM customers with these winding options – split phase, capacitor start or multi phase.

Equivalents: Similar designs of small electric motors were manufactured by AEI, A.O. Smith, Brook Crompton Parkinson, Controls Company of Canada, Electrohome, Fasco, GEC Machines, Lothian Electric Machines, LEMAC, MagnaTek, Ranco, Redmond, Universal Electric, etc.

Applications: Bathroom extract ventilators, business machines, condenser fans, cooker hoods, small refrigeration coolers and condensers, dehumidifiers, evaporator fans, head cooling fans, greenhouse heaters, humidifiers, ice water coolers and fountains, kitchen ventilators, laboratory equipment, pumps, supermarket display cases, vending machines, wine coolers, domestic warm air heaters, etc.
